This is America, baby! That means we get to poke fun at whatever idea we want, not matter how offensive it might seem on its face. Look deeper. The New Yorker is as liberal a mainstream mag as it gets, so surely it's not saying Obama is a terrorist. But some groups are trying to plant seeds of doubt in voters' minds as to Obama's religious background. Maybe he's a . . . a . . . MUSLIM!
I say right on to the magazine cover. If it gets people talking, right on. If it brings to light the ignorant smear tactics being used, so much the better.
I understand what the cover is trying to say. I understand that the New Yorker is a liberal magazine. I am not an idiot. I just don't think it is the right way to say it. It seems insulting to me.
Insulting to Obama? I'd be interested to know what he thought about it. I would think he'd be more upset by the rumors about him. And no one said you were an idiot.
Trying to convince me that this is satire is a waste of time. This is inappropriate no matter which candidate you support.
